Agricultural Waste

The multibillion dollar Agrifoods Industry generates multiple and complex waste streams from activities such as farming, harvesting and raring, to primary and secondary food processing. Conventionally, liquid waste is stored onsite with chemically-assisted containment and addition, discharged on soils with run-off risks, polluting waterways and surroundings, emitting noxious GHG emissions. Solid waste streams are treated offsite at expensive costs at incinerators and landfills. Additional costs are incurred through high energy, water and chemical utilisation in farms and food processing facilities. Current available technologies, anaerobic digestion and pyrolysis, are expensive and complex with large footprint and long lead times, requiring specialist personnel. For agricultural waste, our ZappWaste technology offers a closed-loop solution that generates high-nutrient fertilisers, eradicating the need for synthetic fertiliser and its high costs and carbon footprint.
